Bowdon were an unknown entity to the relatively understrength Knutsford team but with against a much larger club who continue to develop such strong talent, Knutsford did not anticipate an easy ride. However, the away team mustered their strength and displayed the level of teamwork and counter attacking hockey that saw them promoted last year. It was the most solid display as of yet this season so Knutsford deservedly walked away with all 3 points.

With Steve Banton returning from his 1st team adventures and Adam Locke from a 2 week absence there was a stronger backbone to the away team's setup, and despite missing several key players the confidence was evident. A man of the match performance from second choice goalkeeper David Hickson underpinned this with some fine saves that did keep Knutsford in the game during times of pressure.

Knutsford scored relatively early on after a drilled shot from left back Dan Cooper (his first goal for Knutsford) from a penalty corner. There was a little pressure following this from the home team but Knutsford struck again with Sam Swift and Piers Fielding combining well to set up Simon Squirrell who swept home comfortably from 4 yards out. The third goal came again after Knutsford broke down play in midfield and Squirrell struck again to further increase the woes of the home team.

There was little to separate the two teams in the second half but Knutsford dug in with James Routs and Olly Howarth patrolling the wings and some strong defending from the back four including Mike Anderson and Ed Higgs. Chris Drake sadly limped off near the end of the match with a back problem and after a quick reshuffle, Knutsford reorganised and Fielding punished the home team with yet another trademark goal following a lovely through ball from Locke.

Back to winning ways see Knutsford retain their slot in second place and next week they travel to Sale to hopefully continue their solid start to the season.
