After 20 minutes Knutsford were 2-0 up with goals from Steve Hope at LW and Dave Rees at CF, and Sale were hanging on.

Sale then scored just on halftime from a well worked slip routine, 2-1 at the break.

The second half then became a scrappy affair as Knutsford rolled it's 15 players looking for the winning combination, but unfortunately Sale were a little too robust & resolute and Knutsfords' ability didn't really break through the gloom.
