Whitchurch began the game strongly and were quickly into their stride, dominating possession and field position. Their early superiority was rewarded with two early goals in the opening 12 minutes. The first an open play goal and the second a penalty corner. Knutsford battled hard though gradually getting back into the game through the strong midfield.

Julie Nicholas led the line and Knutsford threatened a couple of half chances. Unfortunately a good breakaway lead to another open play goal by Whitchurch.

On the stroke of half-time however Knutsford were awarded a Penalty Corner; Fielding injected and Price battered it straight into the near corner - 3-1 at half time.

The second half was a much more even affair with notable performances front to back from Knutsford; Fran Tasho, who ran continuously and closed down Whitchurch’s defenders, along with everybody putting in a shift. Knutsford's slicker passing of the ball led to Gill Cheshire beating her defender on the outside and then squaring to Julie Nicholas who slotted home past the on rushing keeper.

The game was a real even battle from this point on and could have gone either way; in the end Whitchurch silenced the big home crowd with a 4th match winning goal on the 69th minute.
